About the Role

~1 min read

As an Infrastructure Engineer Mid-Level at Hyland, you'll design, standardize, and continuously improve the core infrastructure platforms that power our enterprise applications, operational services, and critical business systems. You'll bring technical leadership to virtualization, cloud infrastructure, compute, storage, data protection, automation, security, and change management — translating complex business and technical needs into platform standards that are reliable, scalable, and cost-effective. This is a role for a disciplined, security-conscious infrastructure professional who thinks like an architect and thrives on solving complex problems at scale.

  • PowerShell & Python
  • Ansible
  • Hyper-V
  • Microsoft Azure & AWS
  • Private Cloud Platforms

Responsibilities

~2 min read
  • →Design and maintain company standards for virtualization and hypervisor platforms, covering capacity, availability, system lifecycle, performance, resilience, and governance; continuously evaluate new technologies — including approved AI tools — to improve platform quality, delivery speed, and operational decisions.
  • →Lead the design and improvement of automation and scripting to reduce manual work, create consistent results, accelerate delivery, and improve configuration control; create scalable infrastructure designs for public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid environments with a focus on reliability, security, and cost management.
  • →Provide technical leadership for compute, storage, and data protection systems; define standards for performance, availability, backup, recovery, replication, data retention, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • →Collaborate with security, application, network, operations, and service management teams to define requirements, document standard designs, and guide implementation decisions; support data center operations through hardware lifecycle planning, rack and power planning, capacity tracking, and operational documentation.
  • →Promote secure, compliant, resilient, and risk-aware engineering practices throughout infrastructure design, implementation, operations, and lifecycle management; support IT asset management by improving system visibility, documentation, ownership, and lifecycle tracking.
  • →Support change management by ensuring infrastructure changes are documented, assessed for risk, communicated, tested, and aligned with operational standards; review current platform capabilities, identify gaps, and recommend improvements for modernization, consolidation, and cost optimization.

You'll need these skills to hit the ground running:

  • Extensive experience designing, engineering, or supporting enterprise infrastructure platforms in complex production environments, with strong hands-on expertise in virtualization and hypervisor platforms including design standards, capacity management, lifecycle planning, and operational support.
  • Experience supporting enterprise compute, storage, backup, recovery, replication, and data protection systems in production and disaster recovery environments, with solid working knowledge of data center operations including hardware lifecycle, rack and power requirements, and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or similar technologies to create consistent, repeatable processes and reduce manual work across infrastructure platforms.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security, compliance requirements, access controls, system hardening, and resilient design, with experience in IT asset management, change management, incident management, and operational support processes.
  • Proven ability to create clear technical documentation including architecture standards, runbooks, implementation guides, and decision records for both technical and non-technical audiences; strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills with the ability to influence technical direction.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience in infrastructure architecture, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, data center engineering, or enterprise operations leadership in a complex, multi-team environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, private cloud platforms, storage systems, site recovery platforms, or similar enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge of IT service management, change review processes, incident response, problem management, lifecycle planning, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning, performance tuning, business continuity, disaster recovery testing, and cost optimization strategies across enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Relevant certifications in virtualization, cloud, storage, backup, automation, ITIL, security, or architecture are a plus but not required.
