The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the legal education community and helping individuals on their journey to law school. LSAC’s mission is to advance law and justice by promoting access, equity, and fairness in law school admission, to broaden the pathway into legal education, and to support law schools, law students, and the legal education community.
Best known for administering the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), LSAC also provides a wide range of services that assist both prospective students and law schools, including law school application processing, resources and guidance for candidates, data-driven tools, and detailed research into legal education trends. Each year, the organization processes academic credentials for approximately 80,000 law school applicants, provides admissions technology and critical information resources to both applicants and law schools, delivers educational programs and conferences for legal education professionals, publishes research, funds outreach initiatives, and offers comprehensive LSAT preparation tools and law school admissions guidance.
As a leader at the intersection of legal education, assessment, technology, inclusive excellence, and public policy, LSAC is actively transforming its business to strengthen and expand its impact across several key areas, including legal education technology and service solutions, law school admissions support, candidate assessment, credential processing, and resources and strategic support that help law schools advance access to legal education and the legal profession.

LSAC is seeking a Vice President for Strategic Initiatives to support the continuing definition, development, and execution of LSAC’s strategic vision. As a key member of the executive leadership team and in partnership with the President and CEO (President) and senior leadership, the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives identifies growth opportunities, evaluates market trends, and drives enterprise-wide transformation to advance the mission. The person in this position will work closely with the President to carry out special initiatives assigned by the President.

- Support the implementation of LSAC's strategic priorities, in partnership with the leadership team. Advise President on alignment, shaping, and prioritization of strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate recurring strategic planning, roadmap updates, and adjustments through discussions with the leadership team.
- Advise the President and Board of Trustees on strategic opportunities, risk and risk management, and developments in the legal education ecosystem and assessments field.
- In collaboration with the leadership team, translate organizational vision into measurable strategic objectives and initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to streamline initiatives, work with teams across the organization to define priorities, track progress, and adjust prioritization as needed.
- Lead and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary team, encouraging collaboration, communication, accountability, and innovation in day-to-day work across the organization.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets within a team with a focus on impact, agility, and long-term value.
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, products, services, and business models.
- Drive mission-based growth initiatives that strengthen LSAC’s work in supporting legal education.
- Assess strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and other collaborative opportunities to advance LSAC’s mission; partner with Legal and Finance to conduct due diligence and assess the financial and operational impacts of such partnerships.
- Support collaborative work in the legal education, higher education, and prelaw community.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging legislation that impacts legal education, competitive activities, and market needs.
- Conduct market analysis and provide strategic recommendations to President and leadership team.
- Develop frameworks to anticipate disruptions and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Integrate legal education research findings and trends into LSAC strategic priorities and goals.
- Promote research, analysis and guidance on legal education to continue LSAC’s position as a thought leader in the legal education profession.
- Lead enterprise-wide transformation and change initiatives through project management, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate implementation of strategic projects that improve organizational effectiveness and value to stakeholders.
- Align strategic priorities with operational execution.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics tied to strategic objectives.
- Track progress against strategic plans and communicate results internally and externally, so staff, member schools, the Board and other stakeholders understand LSAC’s priorities and how those goals advance the mission.
- Recommend adjustments based on performance and market conditions.
- Prepare strategic presentations and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and business analysis.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team.
- Work with external audiences, as appropriate, to represent LSAC and its work.
- Complete projects as assigned by the President.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree required. J.D. degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in strategy, consulting, higher education, operations, or other related industries. Minimum of three (3) years managing people and leading teams.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
- Experience working directly with executive leadership, external boards, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success developing, communicating and executing growth strategies.
- Familiarity with the goals, operations, and legal needs of academic institutions, particularly law schools, or not-for-profit, membership organizations required.
