Energy Services Technical Specialist

Installs, maintains, and repairs battery energy storage systems (BESS), inverters/converters, and related electrical components for residential, commercial, or utility-scale applications. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, diagnostic skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols. Technicians may specialize in specific areas, such as solar power, electric vehicles, or backup power systems including liquid/gas fuel driven power generation devices and associated switchgear. 

• →Licensing:  MA Journeyman Electrical License Required.  Additional journeyman’s licenses desired (RI/CT/NH/VT/ME)
• →Education: A two-year technical diploma or equivalent certification in electrical, instrumentation, or a related field is often required. Experience may be considered in place of formal education.
• →Experience: Previous experience with DC voltage, inverters, batteries, and other electrical systems is generally necessary. Hands-on experience in renewable energy or power plant environments is often preferred.
• →Technical expertise:
  • →Strong understanding of electrical theory and power systems.
  • →Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • →Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • →Working knowledge of relevant safety procedures, including LOTO and NFPA 70E standards.

  • →Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose complex issues and determine the best course of action.
  • →Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for documenting work and interacting with clients and colleagues.
  • →Independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• →Physical requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions. 

Technicians may work in a variety of settings, including industrial facilities, solar farms, and residential sites. The role may require flexible hours, on-call status, and 50% travel time to various job sites.  The general travel area will be New England and New York territories with occasional travel to out of territory locations.
