Manitoba Public Insurance's Information & Technology Talent Community allows individuals to create a user profile and submit an online application, cover letter and/or resume that will be considered for future term opportunities. 

As a Developer 1, you will be part of the Software Development & Operations team which maintains, modifies and upgrades purchased, and customer developed software. You will be responsible for designing program logics, codes and test programs as part of the project team.

• →Collaborate with business users in the requirement gathering process.
• →Work with the senior developer and systems analyst in design process.
• →Design program logic for simple programs and generate program code.
• →Compile and de-bug program code.
• →Take part in the development of code for projects and production support, as well as code review and testing process.
• →Participate in preparing test data, test programs and correct program errors.
• →Implement and document approved programs.

• Diploma in Computer Science or related IT discipline.

• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of secure development techniques.
• Ability to understand and write Object Oriented Programming; including Java, C# or VB.NET.
• Knowledge of Client scripting (AJAX and JavaScript, jQuery, Angular).
• Knowledge of SML, XSLT.
• Knowledge of SQL Server Database Programming (Stored Procedures).
• Ability to read and create a process flow diagram.
• Ability to debug systems/interfaces.
• Ability to manage multiple activities with a degree of risk while working within established deadlines.
• Ability to complete technical reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in order to convey technical information in a clear, concise and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and communications with supervisors, other employees, and vendors.
• Stays up to date on emerging technologies and frameworks.

• Successful completion of Developer Training within 24 months.
• This position can participate in rotating on-call support.
• This position requires mobile device and internet access for on-call work performed off-site.
• The position is (occasionally) required to work non-business hours to perform an implementation or other support duties.
