EHS Coordinator

The Novelis Ashville team is seeking an EHS Coordinator to join our team. This role provides direct support for the plant’s environmental, health, and safety programs by conducting investigations, identifying and reporting potential concerns, and recommending corrective actions. The EHS Coordinator will collaborate with employees, plant leadership, and regulatory agencies to support safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations.

• →Compile and prepare environmental, health, and safety reports, ensuring accurate and timely submission to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
• →Support the maintenance of required environmental permits and operating records.
• →Develop and deliver EHS training to plant employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• →Monitor regulatory initiatives and proposed rules and communicate relevant updates to local management.
• →Audit and maintain systems to support compliance with applicable environmental programs and requirements.
• →Identify opportunities to continuously improve environmental compliance, including waste reduction, data collection, recordkeeping, and reporting.
• →Build and maintain professional relationships with environmental regulatory authorities.
• →Escort inspectors through site operations, respond to inspection inquiries, and communicate inspection results to plant management.
• →Conduct behavior-based safety observations and recommend appropriate follow-up actions.
• →Recommend corrective and preventive compliance actions based on information from data acquisition systems.
• →Collect and analyze injury data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• →Assist with audits of health and safety procedures and maintain required records, including plant SOS records.
• →Support EHS incident investigations, including environmental excursions, notices of violation, near misses, and injuries.
• →Assist with oversight of the wastewater facility and required reporting to Novelis management and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
• →Collaborate with plant employees and leadership to promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field, or an associate degree with relevant EHS experience.
• Ability to pursue an applicable health, safety, or environmental professional certification if not currently certified.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to contribute and work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks, provide feedback, develop action plans, and contribute as both a team leader and team member.
• Ability to recognize and analyze critical issues, identify appropriate resources, and follow tasks through completion.
• Ability to apply sampling and analysis protocols, provide accurate data, and train others on sampling procedures.
• Ability to organize records, reports, and compliance documentation accurately and consistently.

• Relevant health, safety, or environmental professional certification, such as Graduate Safety Practitioner, Associate Safety Professional, or Certified Safety Professional.
• Experience supporting EHS programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience with environmental reporting, regulatory inspections, incident investigations, or wastewater operations.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety requirements.
