Operations Leader

The Novelis Ashville team is seeking an Operations Leader to join our team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role leads site operations with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, continuous improvement, and employee development. The Operations Leader will build engaged teams, strengthen operational performance, and collaborate across functions to achieve production and business goals while promoting Novelis’ culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.

• →Coordinate operational functions across the site.
• →Lead the safe, efficient, and continuous improvement of operations within the three primary machine center areas.
• →Manage, coach, and develop employees on the Operations team while delivering key business objectives established by the company.
• →Collaborate with Process, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operational Excellence teams to maximize operating performance.
• →Partner with Supply Chain to optimize production schedules and support customer requirements.
• →Work with Human Resources to reinforce team behaviors that align with Novelis standards and expectations while operating within a collective bargaining environment.
• →Lead operations in safely achieving short-term production plans and performance objectives.
• →Contribute to important policy and strategic decisions.
• →Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies and procedures.
• →Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
• →Monitor operating performance and address equipment, process, staffing, and production concerns that may affect business results.

• Four-year degree in engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field, or five to eight years of practical experience in manufacturing or line operations.
• Experience managing or supervising employees in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a record of achieving measurable results.
• Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with consistent attention to follow-through.
• Ability to resolve conflict and use effective coaching and motivational techniques.
• Understanding of melting, continuous casting, hot rolling, and related process equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Ability to coordinate activities among cross-functional departments, including Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Environmental Health and Safety.
• Understanding of cost and budget management, inventory control methods, and operational procedures.
• Experience implementing and supporting business plans and operational priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Demonstrated self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative manufacturing environment and manage multiple operational priorities.

• Experience with aluminum coating or rolling operations.
• Experience working in a unionized or collective bargaining environment.
• Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of manufacturing performance measures related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and equipment reliability.
