This position will be responsible for optimizing the strategic sourcing processes for all materials and services in support of NYBCe strategic plan and overall cost management. This role will work with critical stakeholders across the company to provide the best value goods and services that enable NYBCe to achieve its goals.

  • →Create and maintain Strategic Partnerships with reputable sources of supplies. Recruit suppliers that provide high-quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Establish and keep current database of sources.
  • →Manage day-to-day purchasing/procurement activities throughout NYBCe. Manage, mentor, train, approve work, and provide feedback to assigned staff.
  • →Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics that drive value added activities in the areas of new program sourcing, supplier management, buyer activities, and supply chain performance.
  • →Ensure category strategies drive a supply base that sustains a competitive advantage by utilizing local markets, leveraging both NYBCe and affiliates spend.
  • →Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business requirements/needs and formulate procurement category strategies to meet those needs.
  • →Develop, manage, and track procurement savings that are in support of budget.
  • →Maintain total procurement costs at market rates utilizing cost models and market data to understand and manage cost drivers.
  • →Develop and maintain collaborative and strategic supplier relationships.
  • →Manage the budget for procurement within the respective market, overseeing their financial well-being by analyzing cost effectiveness and directing cost control activities, preparing, submitting, and justifying budget enhancement requests.
  • →Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure seamless integration of Oracle inventory system.
  • →Develop and lead product category strategies that are aligned with both the business unit as well as corporate strategies delivering maximum value, leverage, and standardization.
  • →5%- 10% travel required.

Requirements

Education:

  • Associate's degree in business administration or related area. 

Related Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, or materials management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain management principles and concepts in the areas of procurement, receiving, distribution, replenishment, and equipment management.
  • Knowledge of Oracle inventory system or similar ERP system.

Knowledge:

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. Must be familiar with Outlook. 
  • Solid knowledge of computerized Purchasing/Inventory Management/ERP systems.
  • Solid knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and procedures. 
  • Experience working in a purchasing role in a healthcare or biotechnology company a plus. 

Skills:

  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of moderate issues and situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing purchase contracts, invoices, requisitions, and purchase orders.

Abilities:

  • Ability to travel 5-10%.
  • Ability to engage with all levels within a matrix organization.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage contractual agreements.
  • Ability to analyze processes and procedures.
  • Ability to drive procurement transformation and manage change efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and create and present professional grade deliverables such as technical architecture documents, technical drawings, and presentations.
  • Ability to read and understand laboratory protocols and SOPS and make preliminary assessment of their appropriateness and clarity.
  • Ability to engage internal process owners as necessary to ensure a comprehensive and thorough implementation of projects.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and with authority, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
  • Ability to be responsive and available to management in order to address issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems within established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify complex problems in a timely manner, decipher information to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the requirements above that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $120,000 /year to $130,000/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
