Consider joining the Pennex family as a Mechanical Engineer in our Leetonia, OH location. 

This position directs activities of workers engaged in operation of machines, tools, and equipment.  The Mechanical Engineer implements approved capital projects including project engineering, design, and budgetary administration consistent with the authorized budget and schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, plans and directs major capital projects associated with Fabrication activities.
  • Coordinates, schedules and serves as liaison between production, maintenance and contract personnel for installation and start-up of fabrication equipment and / or process projects.
  • Coordinates engineering activities and designs for equipment utilization and optimization.
  • Assists in development of preventive maintenance programs for fabrication equipment in conjunction with operations and maintenance staff.
  • Support robotic activities; implementation, programming and cell integration efforts.
    • Participate in training, run at rate confirmation and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) run off
    • Participate in the evaluation and hiring of future operators
    • Contribute in the quoting of new business that will utilize similar manufacturing methods
    • Assist with activities involving future strategy for growth of fabrication business
    • Support cell supervision, material planning and production scheduling
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning
  • Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
    • Part Control Plan
    • Pre-Launch Part Control Plan – (GP-12; Early Production Validation Plan)
    • Run @ Rate Analysis
    • Error and Mistake Proofing
    • Problem Solving
    • Process Monitoring and Operating Instructions
  • Process Improvement Activities
    • Yield Improvement
    • Process Analysis / Root Cause for repeat DMRs, CCNs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) in a mechanical discipline from four-year college or university 
  • Five or more years of related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years of related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred 

 

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Machine design preferred 
  • 3D CAD modeling and relevant analysis preferred
  • Experience using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)   

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Takes initiative
  • Relevant technological knowledge
  • Ability work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment

  • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information in a clear and concise manner
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available; OPT/CPT is not eligible for this role
  • Regular attendance required

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
