Join the SDSU Research Foundation (SDSURF) as our newest team member, where your technical expertise will help build a better foundation for groundbreaking research and community service. In this role, you aren’t just "managing servers" or "writing code"—you are building the digital backbone that empowers San Diego State University’s R1 research mission. You will balance the essential daily work of keeping our enterprise systems running smoothly with exciting modernization initiatives that strengthen our infrastructure for the future. You’ll be one of the collaborative experts we turn to ensure our financial management, human resources, and research administration systems are secure, user-focused, and ready to scale.

  • Build and innovate: You will design, code, and document custom applications, reports, and workflows using tools like Oracle PL/SQL and APEX to meet our team's needs.
  • Keep the engines running: You’ll help to configure and manage the servers (like Tomcat) and Linux environments that keep our critical systems running smoothly every day.
  • Secure our digital doors: You will set up and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) using Active Directory (AD/Entra) Azure Active Directory and understanding of SSL/TLS certificate request and installation, ensuring our team can safely and easily access the tools they need.
  • Modernize our tech: You’ll help with ERP upgrades and integrating fresh technologies.
  • Solve complex puzzles: You’ll dive into tricky technical issues related to system performance and data integrity, fixing bottlenecks so everything works seamlessly.

Requirements

  • Technical Chops: Proven experience configuring and maintaining Ellucian Banner ERP systems and related servers, plus working knowledge with SAML2 integrations. and scripting and automation techniques (i.e. Jenkins, Bash).
  • Bonus points if you have: Experience with MVC frameworks, specifically as implemented in Ellucian Banner admin pages using Morphis Foundations is highly desirable.

 

  • An owner: You don't wait to be told what to do; you love taking the reins to figure out, deploy, and champion new applications and servers.
  • A careful problem-solver: You have a knack for troubleshooting and look at the big picture to find long-term solutions, whether you're fixing a modern API integration or maintaining legacy applications.
  • System Savvy: Experience with Oracle RDBMS, PL/SQL, Oracle Pro-C, Oracle APEX, tomcat servers on Linux and shell scripting are highly valued for this position.
  • A natural learner: Familiarity with Ellucian Banner is preferred, though comparable experience with alternate ERP will be considered.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND appropriate Oracle Certification.
  • Four-years of related work experience
