The Mental Health Counselor provides direct patient care to adolescents and adults under the supervision of clinical staff and the program director. Our program is a 24-hour level of care facility.

Part -time positions are 24 hours/week with rotating weekends.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00/hour depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities

→Provide a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring residents and redirecting behaviors.

→Assist residents through the admission process, including bag searches, required paperwork, and orienting new patients to the unit.

→Establish therapeutic relationships with residents and provide resident care within Walden policies, philosophies, and objectives.

→Observe residents and accurately and thoroughly document daily resident notes.

→Supervise breakfast, lunch, and snacks and provide redirection to residents, as needed.

→Precise preparation of adolescent snacks and meals.

→Provide supervision and guidance in the preparation of adult resident meals.

→Participate in community meetings, group therapies, education, and social activities on the unit.

→Help facilitate group therapy sessions, including but not limited to DBT, CBT, Body Image, etc.

→Communicate appropriately and effectively with residents’ treatment teams to ensure the highest quality of resident care.

→Conduct daily resident weigh-ins.

→Complete call assignments as designated by clinical staff.

→Administer Columbia risk assessments, monitor resident safety, and complete safety documentation.

→Model therapeutic eating habits with residents by eating provided programmatic meals and snacks aligned with the company's nutrition philosophy to completion throughout the shift.

→Participates in weekly to bi-weekly staff meetings to continue personal and professional growth as well as building cohesion amongst the treatment team.

→Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of a patient’s total needs as a person, and addresses psychosocial, physical, developmental, spiritual, and cultural issues as appropriate for each individual.

→Has working knowledge of the facility’s fire, disaster, and infection control programs.

→Adheres to and follows the Monte Nido & Affiliates policies and procedures, including work schedule, time and attendance, and time off.

→Uses tact and sensitivity in communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, families, co-workers and all others.

→Provides for the maintenance of confidentiality of patient records and communications.

→Maintains the values and philosophy of the mission statement of the Monte Nido & Affiliates.

→Recommends quality and/or process improvement initiatives in order to more effectively and efficiently perform the job functions of this position.

→In an emergency or declared state of emergency, you may be required to stay on-site as a part of the emergency team until the emergency has ended.

→Other duties as assigned.
