Position Status: Regular Full Time Location: Southport, Education - Allied Health Bi-weekly Hours: 77.50
FTE: 1.00 Shift: Days Shift Times: 0800-1615 Union: Non Union Professional Rate of Pay: $46.81 - $62.70 PCN: SPTEDUAH02

The Opportunity
 
As part of the Quality and Performance Portfolio, this position will work collaboratively with the education team, site managers, and stakeholders. This position provides leadership in the development and delivery of clinical education and instruction based on adult education principles and philosophy, and by incorporating educational approaches as part of the education delivery. Utilizing an allied health lens, they apply theory, advanced knowledge and leadership concepts, educational theories, and adult learning principles in providing clinical guidance and resource support to staff.
 
This position is responsible for promoting best practices through staff development and education thus ensuring optimal client outcomes. Assists the managers in maintaining standards of care and in providing and participating in quality improvement initiatives. Provides guidance and support to staff and students in the application of the nursing process in the provision of client care and promoting a culture of evidence-based practice and evidence-informed decision-making. The key responsibility of the educator is to meet the educational needs of allied health clinical staff and programs in the
organization.
 
Qualifications:
- A degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy is required.
- Masters preferred. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta or Alberta College of Occupational Therapists is required.
- Certificate in Adult Education with adult education experience is an asset.
- AADL authorizer preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for travel between sites.
 
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years practice in relevant field.
- Clinical experience in Physical or Occupational Therapy in various practice settings.
- Specific clinical experience required for certain units/programs/sites.
- Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
- Passion for profession and staff development.
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
- Solution-oriented problem solving.
- Proven aptitude to multitask and work in an environment requiring ongoing flexibility.
- High level of computer literacy.
