Responsibilities include, working on assigned projects with limited or no supervision while performing installation, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems ensuring the work is performed in accordance with all relevant codes and safety standards in an underground mine.

Responsibilities (main areas of responsibilities of the position)

Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions and equipment using various test instruments; maintain and repair electrical systems; test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency; fabricate electrical parts; participates in the maintenance and operation of electrical tools and equipment used by the operation

Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical systems including electric motors, electric controls, scales, and other electric equipment (locomotives, plant radios, and electric tools)

Test & monitor electrical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

Ensures the proper function of electrical safety devices

Installs, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems

Monitors work done for adherence to the NEC requirements

Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction

Maintains appropriate service and repair records, (records necessary for MSHA)

Analyze and responds safely and appropriately to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service

Follows blue prints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to conform to the building and safety codes

Any other duties as assigned by management

Basic requirements (Education, Level of Experience, Language)

High School Graduate or GED equivalency

Minimum 4 years’ and 8000 hours of on the job electrical maintenance training

Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized electrical maintenance management systems; strong leadership and Total Productive Maintenance experience; Six Sigma training is a plus

Basic Computer Logic and Programming

Inspection and identification and knowledge of all electrical distribution systems (12 to 5K volts)

Prior experience demonstrating effective leadership skills

Demonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethic

Fluency in spoken and written English

Knowledge

Knowledge of electricity and how it works

Knowledge of safety procedures and precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment

The ability to advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous

Knowledge of the mining process and equipment associated with such (conveyors, crushing and screening equipment, mobile equipment, etc.)

Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade

Knowledge of State and Federal Codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade.

Knowledge of the methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment

Knowledge of providing estimates for: time, cost and materials for electrical projects

Skills

Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely

Ability to install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses

Demonstrated ability to assess organizational and people issues, provide coaching and mentoring, and deliver solutions that improve facility performance

Demonstrated ability to take initiative, strong organization and prioritization skills

Demonstrates the ability to apply appropriate conflict management strategies to ensure conflicts are resolved to the benefit of all parties

Excellent math skills required

Establishes and maintains highly productive working relationships across the organization with all groups within the region and the company; demonstrating respect for conflicting points of view, listens to others, and builds strong working relationships
