The New Product Development (NPD) – Sr. Refrigeration Systems Engineer will play a key role in product support and strategic development: supporting HVAC cooling and heat pump equipment development, developing qualification plans for systems and components, secure product requirement compliance and agency certification.

Based onsite in Syracuse, NY, this position operates on a Monday through Friday day shift schedule.

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field with 5+ years of experience working with specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in an engineering environment -or- Master’s degree in an Engineering field with 3+ years of experience working with specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in an engineering environment.

• 1+ years of experience working with refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems, structural analysis and/or electronic control systems.
• Able and willing to travel up to 10% of the year domestically and to Mexico to support field sites and travel to manufacturing facilities.
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the USA. No visa sponsoring available.

• Advanced Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• Experience or familiarity with various HVAC applications or similar industry.
• Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment.
• Demonstrated system design thinking skills and creative new product design skills.
• Project management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an engineering design team.
• Experience in system control development.
• Experience with vapor-compression refrigeration or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies.
• Experience integrating and verifying & validating performance of complex systems.

• Knowledge of CSA/ANSI and UL Standards such as: AHRI, ASHRAE, DOE, EPA, NEC, UL/CSA, etc.

• Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods.
• Demonstrated experience in continual process improvement.
• Experience with model-based design techniques.
• Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams and a diverse cultural environment.
• Ability to professionally engage with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to understand and translate product requirements into control system requirements.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non-technical organizations.
• Ability for developing continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change.
• Excellent Follow-up and follow-through skills.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.

• →Product cost productivity (Sch B) for Light Commercial and Commercial products

• →Support the development of strategic customer options across multiple product lines

• →Provide engineering support for field quality issues reported, offering effective solutions to improve product quality with a competitive cost in a timely manner.

• →Provide factory support regarding product engineering and design fabricated in commercial manufacturing plants under our operative system Cx.

• →Support product ETL/UL audits through plants and maintain accuracy agency files.

• →Maintain the accuracy of engineering information, update and manage the master Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, and engineering specifications.

• →Lead and execute mid-to-high-complexity programs with minimal supervision/direction.

• →Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release.

• →Provide daily direction to supporting Designers & Technicians.

• →Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards including demonstrating the use of Quality System deployment tools.

• →Collaborate with team members from Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.

• →Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.

• →Identification of reliable and cost-effective purchased components required for new product development projects
