Audio Production Expert (Contract)

Most voices in Cartesia’s library starts as a recording. We’re looking for someone who has spent years making those recordings great from a technical standpoint, and have the ears to understand what good sounds like.

You’ll own voice production production from spec definition, to recoding pre-processing, to final delivery. You’ll also take customer requests from our Voices team and quickly generate the voices to the required fidelity, timeline, and requirements.

This is an internal role and not client facing. Voices team brings the requirements to you. You’ll work day to day with our Voice Production Lead, who owns the creative and customer side, while you own the technical side and set the bar for what good audio means at Cartesia.

• Deep command of audio fundamentals and the technical details: recording, editing, processing, mastering, and delivery specs.

• Strong grasp of voice fundamentals. You can describe a voice in precise, nuanced terms (pitch, timbre, pace, intonation, room sound) to any stakeholder, technical or not.

• You use tools like Claude Code to automate the repetitive work and get things done fast.

• A great communicator: clear, direct, and easy to work with.

• Experience with text-to-speech, speech recognition, voice cloning, or speech datasets.

• Directing in multiple languages or accents.

• Basic scripting (Python, ffmpeg, SoX) for batch work.

1. 30-minute call with our recruiting team.

2. Take-home (2–3 hours): build a set of voices from raw, multi-speaker call recordings using Cartesia’s Instant Voice Cloning, and write up your processing and choices.

3. Live listening review (45–60 minutes): we play your voices together and talk through what you heard, what you did, and what you’d change.

This is a 1099 contract opportunity and will not be eligible for the benefits below. Audio Production Experts work on an ongoing basis, renewable by mutual agreement. You will control your own methods for completing assigned work, supply your own equipment, and are responsible for your own taxes. You must be authorized to work in your country of residence.
