You will be responsible for contributing to the quality of software development and deployment as part of an AI-first engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, you will work across automated and manual testing, code development, and software delivery to ensure our products are fit for purpose. Some of the duties include analysis of software and systems, mitigating risk, and preventing software issues.

Responsibilities
~1 min read• Design, code, test, and debug technical solutions including complex components, ensuring quality standards are achieved.
• Provide product support (fixing defects) in older technologies where required, including active involvement in moving the legacy product forward into newer web technologies.
• Write clean, well-designed, documented and commented code, following best practices.
• Estimate effort required to accomplish requirements and ensure that schedules are met.
• Collaborate with other team members to help specify, design, and develop software, meeting product requirements.
• Identify process deficiencies and propose and implement solutions and improvements.
• Take part in reviewing code through PR review and pair programming ensuring defect rates are minimised, and products are inexpensive to maintain and support.
• Work with the security team to ensure data security standards are always met.
• Operates independently on well-scoped tasks; seeks guidance on ambiguous or cross-cutting technical decisions; supports less experienced team members informally.
• Actively contribute to Causeway's AI-first ways of working, including leveraging AI tooling to accelerate development, code review, and specification work.
• Take responsibility for your personal development, ensuring that knowledge and skills are up to date and maintained, including emerging trends that may be relevant to solutions being developed.
• Continuously strive for innovative solutions and make suggestions for improvements that will provide benefit to the business in terms of improved efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
Requirements
~1 min read• 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot or similar).
• Experience in Java or Microsoft C#.
• Good understanding and experience of SQL.
• Understanding of APIs and REST.
• Experience in unit testing.
• Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation, and best practice.
• Awareness of current trends and developments in software engineering, including AI-assisted development practices.
• Experience with Agile or Kanban methodologies.
• Ability to identify technical risks and propose alternative solutions.
• Highly developed attention to detail.
• Experience in JavaScript, Angular, or Knockout.
• Awareness and experience of Google Kubernetes Engine, GCP offerings, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
• Awareness and experience of AWS.
• Degree level or equivalent education in a relevant subject such as computer science, computer engineering, information management systems, software development, or business information systems.
