The Clinical Navigator is a specially trained Labor & Delivery registered nurse who provides individualized, trauma-informed support to patients with a history of trauma, high anxiety, or other concerns surrounding childbirth. Through a dedicated, two-hour prenatal consultation at the hospital, navigators familiarize patients with the birthing environment, discuss the labor and delivery experience, identify potential triggers, and develop personalized strategies to promote emotional safety and confidence during birth. Patients are not required to disclose a history of trauma to receive these services.

Serving on a PRN basis, Clinical Navigators are current or former Labor & Delivery nurses who help bridge communication between patients and the healthcare team, ensuring each patient's preferences and support needs are integrated into their plan of care. This nurse-driven role is a key component of the Empower Program's commitment to delivering compassionate, trauma-informed perinatal care.

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease of bodily fluids.
Sedentary Work -; Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
