WHY DOES THIS POSITION EXIST IN CCO?

Catholic Christian Outreach is a young and dynamic Catholic movement dedicated to fulfilling the Church’s mission of evangelization on university campuses and beyond. The Finance & Properties Department plays a key role in establishing a strong foundation to support the fulfillment of this mission. The Sr. Accounting Specialist contributes to ensuring our fiscal responsibilities are upheld and aligned to serve the heart of our mission with integrity, professionalism and excellence.


In addition to the qualifications listed below, the person who fills this position is excited about the opportunity to support CCO’s mission and vision to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission. They desire to use their technical skills to serve the advancement of the Gospel across the world.


WHAT DOES THIS POSITION DO FOR CCO?

  • Assist in coordination and processing of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger
  • Contribute to the national budget process
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of regular financial statements
  • As requested, maintain & develop strong internal controls in keeping Financial Edge database clean
  • Perform period end procedures, as assigned 
  • Strengthen processes, systems and efficiencies, as requested
  • Perform account investigations and reconciliations, as needed
  • Communicate with vendors/clients/employees via phone, email, mail or personally
  • Assist with various payroll function


DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in finance operations
  • Strong understanding of finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Proficient in accounting software 
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • All employees of CCO are required to participate in the mission of the New Evangelization within the Catholic Church and work toward the propagation of the Gospel. This includes taking the initiative to lead CCO Catholic Faith studies, share the kerygma (through tools like the Ultimate Relationship booklet), and/or participation in the evangelization efforts of CCO, including opportunities to participate in CCO Missions. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of compliance requirements related to financial operations
  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or other equivalent certifications
  • Experience with Blackbaud software solutions (Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge, etc.)
  • Experience in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • As a Responsibility Level 4 position the starting annual salary is $66,517.22 and is based on a 40 hour work week. Salaries increase with years of experience.
