Our site in Bishop, Texas currently has an exciting opportunity for an EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety) Manager. The Site EH&S Manager is responsible for leading the ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Bishop Plant environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, process safety, sustainability, security, and emergency response programs and performance. The successful candidate will lead, develop and maintain a high performance EH&S team that engages with the unit teams to drive world-class EH&S and sustainability performance at the site.

Responsibilities
  • Works with site director as part of the site leadership team and other leaders at the site and corporate level to establish site EHS and sustainability strategy and long-range plans.  Ensure that the strategy and long-range plans are effective, simple, and deliver results. Leads the EHS/stewardship management review process for the site.
  • Ensures that the strategy and the long-range plans build a culture of “no harm” to people that work in the plant, to our community, and to the environment.
  • Effectively leads Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety and Security teams to achieve corporate and regulatory compliance every day.
  • Influence and coach site leadership on robust action plans to improve safety, process safety, emergency response, environmental and overall EHS/stewardship performance.
  • Develop and manage (site and unit specific) KPI’s and metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of EHS/stewardship initiatives, programs, processes, and policies.
  • Develop a robust set of leading indicators that focuses the team on the critical activities and behaviors to enable excellent EHS/stewardship and Sustainability results.
  • Ensure site EHS/stewardship procedures are simplified and easy to adhere to in the field, while aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Establish continuous improvement initiatives that support the overarching manufacturing operating model and are aligned with Human Organizational Performance (HOP) leadership principles.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with state and local leaders and groups to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved and to build goodwill with the surrounding communities.
  • Accountable for incident management at the site.
  • Effectively manages emergency and security response programs, engages community associations to act as liaison.
  • Ensures effective site sustainability reporting and improvement initiatives that are aligned with corporate sustainability objectives and requirements.
  • Ensures completion of 1st Party EHS/stewardship audits and works with the leadership team to analyze results to drive continual improvement.
  • Coordinates 2nd party audit schedule and execution for Stewardship Management Systems, Environmental, Sustainability, Safety, Process Safety and Health Services. Develop and implement plans to resolve any 2nd party audit findings.
  • Support injury and illness recordkeeping and case management process; maintain relevant logs and documentation.
  • Participate in field engagement and interactions with employees and contractors to promote operational learning.
  • Provide supervisory guidance and development to EHS/stewardship team members to ensure technical/functional and operating skills are current and effective.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of EHS management, engineering, or similar technical discipline
  • 10+ years of site operations related experience
  • 5+ years of strong leadership, people management and development skills in an industrial environment.
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment (chemical or petrochemical).
  • Experience and working knowledge of process safety, environmental, industrial health programs, and safety programs and their requirements 
  • Experience and working knowledge of risk analysis regarding process safety risks.
  • Proactive leadership and team-building skills with the ability to work effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to develop and grow talent through coaching.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all organization levels through written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to understand how to influence business objectives within departments and with others without formal supervisory authority.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong sense of ownership and a drive to achieve results.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • The confidence to deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
