ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:

The Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and environmental justice by empowering Central California communities through services, research, advocacy, and data-driven solutions to reduce the burden of asthma.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Student Intern, under the direction of the CCAC preceptor, is responsible for supporting process improvements, daily operations, and innovative projects within the organization. This internship provides exposure to various aspects of how CCAC operates, including but not limited to public health practice, health promotion, environmental health, environmental justice initiatives, community engagement, data collection and analysis, reporting activities, administrative processes, and cross-functional collaboration. Duties and projects may vary depending on organizational needs, as well as the intern's skills, interests, and learning objectives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist day-to-day operations and team projects.
  • Collaborate with team members on assigned projects.
  • Support staff with research, data collection, and organization.
  • Learn and apply industry tools, systems, or processes.
  • Communicate updates clearly with supervisors and team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Uses resourcefulness to identify opportunities for improvement, develop practical solutions, and contribute ideas that enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall project outcomes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in public health, environmental studies, data science, computer science, communications, social sciences, or a related field, or a recent graduate.
  • Experience with public health, environmental health, community engagement, data analysis, research, outreach, communications, or related areas through coursework, volunteer work, internships, research projects, employment, or other academic or professional experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Canva, Adobe, and statistical software (R, SAS, Python) for creating materials.
  • Analytical mindset with good problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Good interpersonal


DRIVING AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid CADL and applicable CA mandated auto insurance.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lift up to 20 (twenty) pounds.

 

ACCESS TO SENSITIVE INFORMATION: Must maintain confidentiality of personal client and staff information exposed to when working in files and preparing reports.
