The Center for Human Development, (CHD), will be hosting a hiring event on Thursday October, 22nd of 2026 from 9:00am-11:00am and 5:00pm-7:00pm. We are seeking Direct Care Staff to join our teams at our Residential Group Homes in Hartford, CT. Our residential direct care staff establish life-changing relationships with our clients and provide opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery.
- We have full-time and part time openings available.
- Locations include: Imlay Street, Hartford, CT, Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, CT, Tower Avenue, Hartford, CT.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Registered & insured vehicle available for work purposes
- Approved criminal background and driving check
- Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring population preferred
Pay rate is $20.00/hr. CHD also has a phenomenal benefits package that includes Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurances, 3 paid personal days, 10 days of accrued vacation time in year one, 8 paid holidays, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 403b retirement plan, just to name a few.
The Direct Care Staff provides a supportive residential environment for individuals who are challenged by mental health and substance abuse histories in a community-based group home. Our goal is to provide an environment that encourages program participants to grow and to live as independently as possible. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Daily activities include providing direct services to program clients living in a group home setting in the community
- Supporting clients' activities of daily living and monitoring clients' self-administer medication
- Advocating for individuals' within various community settings, and providing opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation and recovery
- Develop professional and supportive relationships with clients and provide informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus
- The ideal candidates will have a desire to work with members of our community who have mental illness and substance abuse struggles or both
