Position Summary: The lifeguard is responsible to maintain a safe swimming condition in the pool, on the deck, and in the surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain safe swimming conditions in pool, on deck and surrounding areas.
- Prevent accidents by scanning assigned zone from bottom to top and covering zone in compliance with the 10/10 rule.
- Perform swim tests as required by STCC policy.
- Enforce health and safety rules and maintain emergency readiness.
- Respond to emergency situations in accordance with STCC policies and procedures. Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance of pool and surrounding areas, to ensure cleanliness.
- Check pool and rescue equipment and promptly report any problems.
- Set up and put away equipment for recreational swims.
- Develop rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, participants and other staff.
- Uphold the core values of the STCC when dealing with people within the STCC facilities and in the community.
- Work scheduled shifts. Arrangements for substitutes must be previously approved by the Aquatics Director.
Requirements

- Lifeguard, CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid, and AED certifications required
- Individuals must have the ability to exercise mature judgment, sound decision making, relate to people in a positive but firm manner, be observant, react calm and quickly, effectively communicate, and be safety conscious.
- Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
