Job Summary The Communications and Multimedia Coordinator is an experienced multimedia journalist and communications professional responsible for developing, reporting, producing and delivering news and public information content for the City of Brownsville Communications and Marketing Department (CMD) and Brownsville TV (BTV). This position covers City Commission meetings, City events, programs, initiatives and highlights services, while gathering information through research, on-site reporting, interviews and direct engagement with City officials, staff, residents and community stakeholders. The Coordinator must understand how a newsroom operates and be able to take a story from assignment and research through reporting, writing, production and publication. |

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills • Identify newsworthy events and develop for daily reports, including media advisories, press releases, website news stories, social media content development, and news media pitches. |

Minimum Education & Experience • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcast Television, Film Production, Communications, or related field. |

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Average judgment: must recognize and resolve problems such as bad grammar, type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.

Physical Demands
Office job with little or occasional light physical. Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or a negligible amount of energy frequently to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Responsibility for Equipment & Property
Responsible for use of equipment/property such as office equipment, supplies, etc., which are used in office; use of city vehicle.
