As a Detention Specialist, you spend your day supervising and interacting with inmates and ensure their safety and health. You provide inmate transport to court, interview rooms, and other agencies. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. You complete administrative work, communicate and respond to queries. Perform and oversee the inventory of jail supplies and inmate property, evidence, and lost and found items. Assist in the implementation of safety procedures and provide janitorial services. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with great people skills in providing excellent customer service, and finds genuine enjoyment in what you do!
Requirements
~1 min read- Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.
- Education Preference: Associate's Degree
- Required Work Experience: One (1) year of related experience.
- Experience Preference: Two (2) years of related experience
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to obtain NCIC/TLETS certification within six (6) months of employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (certification requirement).
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
