The Logistics Specialist supports project and operational activities by coordinating the safe, efficient, and timely movement of materials and equipment. This role partners with suppliers, carriers, QA/QC, and project teams to execute shipments, manage documentation, and ensure materials meet schedule and quality requirements.

  • Based in Houston, TX
  • Hybrid schedule: 4 days in office, Friday.
  • Single-round panel interview (likely virtual).

Responsibilities

Coordinate transportation for materials, fabricated equipment, and project components.

Issue Release?to?Ship documentation and verify supplier readiness.

Communicate shipping instructions and required documentation to suppliers and carriers.

Track shipments, resolve delays, and provide updates to project teams.

Manage logistics documentation in Aconex (drawings, ITPs, WPS, inspection reports, etc.).

Support material readiness, staging, and laydown yard coordination.

Maintain shipment logs, packing slip accuracy, and delivery confirmations.

  • Operate and support the Transportation Management System (TMS) and related workflows.
  • Manage trucking logistics: full truckload and heavy-haul movements, dispatch coordination.
  • Perform light procurement tasks (issuing JPOs to carriers, carrier coordination).
  • Maintain logistics tracking and reporting (currently Smartsheet/Excel ? integrating with TMS).

Requirements

2+ years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain coordination.

An understanding of freight scheduling and trucking operations.

Experience with digital workflow tools (Excel required; Aconex, Oracle preferred).

Excellent communication, follow?up, and organizational skills.

Updating shipments in TMS system

Background in energy, pipeline, fabrication, or industrial project logistics.

Knowledge of DOT/HAZMAT regulations.

Experience supporting QA/QC inspection workflows.

  • Practical experience working with a TMS (hands-on administration or heavy daily use).
  • Strong trucking/logistics experience: full truckload and heavy-haul operations, dispatch knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Excel/Smartsheet (pivot tables, lookups, data organization).
  • Ability to coordinate carriers and manage transport workflows.

Detail?oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Strong problem?solving and stakeholder?management abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in energy / oil & gas / pipeline industries (terminology familiarity helpful but not required).
  • Hazmat/DOT familiarity (nice-to-have; not heavily weighted).
  • Procurement experience related to carrier JPOs.
  • Minimum listed as ~2 years, but open to mid- to senior-level candidates (10–15 years acceptable).
  • Emphasize relevant experience over formal education.
  • Degree is a plus but not required.
