CivilGrid is the trusted civil design platform powering affordable infrastructure renewal and growth. We give utilities, civil engineers, and municipalities a single, collaborative source of truth for what's underground so teams can plan, design, and build faster, smarter, and safer.

Our platform consolidates utility records, geotechnical and environmental data, paving moratoriums, and jurisdictional requirements directly from 3,000+ utilities, agencies, and municipalities with full chain-of-custody documentation. Teams at PG&E, Mark Thomas, and dozens of leading engineering firms use CivilGrid to cut research time by up to 88%, reduce project costs, prevent dig-ins, and accelerate delivery on the projects that keep communities running.

We're a venture-backed Series A startup tackling a $4.7T US infrastructure market that has been underserved by software for decades. Founded by industry insiders, each with 10+ years in utilities and civil engineering, we move fast, ship work that matters, and stay close to the customers and field teams we build for.

CivilGrid’s Data team uncovers and manages the foundational datasets underlying the CivilGrid app. As a Civil Engineer - New Graduate, you’ll join a group within the Data team laser-focused on delivering insights from engineering record drawings and as-builts.

This role is ideal for someone who is eager to get their hands dirty with utilities data, learn quickly in a variety of technical and management areas, and grow in a fast-moving startup environment.

  • Coordinate digitization tasks and workflows, ensuring alignment on timelines and priorities with stakeholders.

  • Provide detailed markup and interpretation of utility engineering records and as-builts.

  • Conduct quality assurance on digitized deliverables.

  • Interface with subcontractors, internal teams, and customers to facilitate smooth project execution and process scaling.

  • Collaborate closely with Data and Customer Success leadership to refine operational processes.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering

  • Meticulous optimizer: you are highly organized and process-driven. When given a task, you create a framework and a system, and you implement it. You thrive in structure when given one, but you can also create your own out of nothing.

  • Autonomous and self-motivated: you're comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision; you know when to ask questions, but otherwise you're full speed ahead. You value autonomy, creativity, and impact in your first full-time role.

  • Computer nerd - you're always tinkering with new tools and you have incredibly quick hands. Literal, raw speed at doing operations on the desktop is highly valued for this role and you'll be tested on this during the interview process.

  • You chose to be a Civil Engineer because you care about transforming our aging infrastructure to meet today's massive challenges in energy delivery, housing, climate resilience, and more. You're pursuing a career in construction tech so you can impact these challenges at scale.

Nice to Have

~1 min read
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering

  • Experience with GIS and/or CAD software (ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation)

  • Prior internship at an ENR500 engineering firm or utility agency. You've worked with utilities or construction in some form already

We're a small, but rapidly growing team that ships. Expect direct feedback, real ownership from day one, and proximity to customers — huge utilities, public agencies, and engineering firms whose work depends on what we build. We default to in-person collaboration where it matters and remote-friendly flexibility otherwise. We hire people who care deeply about their craft and the communities our customers serve.
