Job Title: JV Girls Head Basketball Coach (regular season)

Job Title: Athletics Head Coach (regular season) - JV Girls Basketball

Classification: Temporary, Non-exempt

Reports To: Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director

Season Dates: November, 2026 - February, 2027

To help create and promote a healthy team, player/coach, and coach-to-coach dynamic.
Create a space for students to have the opportunity to participate in sport-specific training during their season, with a focused emphasis on teaching core offensive fundamentals and defensive concepts.

Responsibilities

Plan, direct, and supervise practices, placing heavy emphasis on fundamental offensive instruction (ball handling, shooting mechanics, passing, spacing) and team defensive concepts (man-to-man principles, help-side positioning, and rotation).

Attend all games: be prepared with a game plan and lineups as necessary.

Ride team bus when necessary or coordinate with your assistant to ride the bus.

Be present at team gatherings.

Create and coordinate opportunities for the team to develop camaraderie.

Adjust typical practice plans to accommodate for health and safety restrictions (if necessary).

Manage equipment.
→
Coordinate and facilitate uniform return when necessary.

Participate in coaching meetings and collaborate with varsity coaching staff to ensure program alignment.

Communicate with the team and parents as necessary.
→
Communicate necessary information to team parents.
→
Report game results to the athletic department.
→
Complete coaching education as required by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

Requirements

Undergraduate Degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of basketball, specifically with the ability to teach offensive fundamentals and defensive concepts to high school athletes.
Ability to improve team dynamics.
Organized, positive, patient.
Enjoys working with teenagers.
Previous playing or coaching experience (high school or club basketball preferred).
CPR/First Aid Certification.

Coaches will be required to follow SFDPH protocols in regard to health, safety, and coaching.

Essential Physical Tasks: To work on your feet for multiple hours. Lift and carry up to 40 lbs of equipment.
