LiveWire is seeking an EV Mechanical Design Engineer to develop electric powertrain systems that transcend benchmarks and deliver an unparalleled riding experience. This role is ideal for a motivated and inventive mechanical engineer with a passion for motorcycles, electric powertrain technology, and electronics integration. You will join a talented multi-disciplinary team and work hands-on at our world-class development facilities in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Deliver the LiveWire vision through development of industry-leading powertrain systems.
- →Exercise strong engineering fundamentals leveraging 3D CAD, simulation, analytical, and empirical methods to create designs optimized for performance, weight, cost, and quality.
- →Own mechanical systems and components from concept through production within the electric powertrain, including but not limited to motors, power electronics, and cooling systems.
- →Define, document, and manage mechanical requirements, design intent, and validation plans to ensure robust designs and successful program execution.
- →Lead technical trade studies and contribute to system‑level architecture decisions, balancing performance, packaging, manufacturability, serviceability, and regulatory requirements.
- →Collaborate cross‑functionally to achieve seamless integration with the overall motorcycle.
- →Plan, support, and analyze component and system‑level testing using LiveWire’s world‑class labs and proving grounds to validate performance and reliability.
- →Partner with suppliers and manufacturing team to support sourcing, drive design-for-cost and manufacturability, resolve technical issues, and support production launch.
- →Demonstrate creativity, agility, and a relentless commitment to excellence and innovation.
Requirements
~1 min readBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
Requirements

- History of solving complex mechanical design problems in a fast-paced team environment.
- Broad manufacturing process knowledge including casting, forging, stamping, welding, and injection molding.
- Demonstrated skills in 3D CAD (Creo preferred), 2D Drawings, GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
- Ability to communicate technical subjects clearly and concisely.
