The Opportunity

The Chief Financial Officer will lead BAMSI’s financial strategy and finance operations, partnering closely with the CEO, executive team and Board of Directors. This role requires a leader who can work directly through complex financial detail, establish confidence in reporting and translate analysis into timely, measurable action.

The CFO will build financial resilience through disciplined cash management, sound controls, accurate reporting, effective revenue collection and program-level financial insight. Success requires constructive challenge, personal accountability and an understanding of how financial decisions affect employees and the people BAMSI serves.

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial strategy and recovery: Lead financial sustainability by partnering with executive and operational leaders to drive budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, restructuring, and data-driven cost and growth decisions while maintaining service quality.
  • Accounting accuracy and internal controls: Ensure financial integrity and strong internal controls by overseeing GAAP-compliant reporting, reconciliations and close processes, resolving and escalating discrepancies, and strengthening approval, vendor, audit and control practices.
  • Liquidity and financial risk: Optimize liquidity and financial stability by maintaining cash forecasts, managing banking, debt, treasury and reserves, and providing timely recommendations on cash preservation, working capital, capital spending and financial risk.
  • Revenue contracts and reimbursement: Ensure strong financial stewardship of government contracts and grants by overseeing budgeting, billing, revenue and collections, delivering reliable program-level reporting, and maintaining compliance with Massachusetts and funder requirements.
  • Audit compliance and board partnership: Lead financial governance and transparency by overseeing audits, regulatory filings and board reporting, while maintaining strong relationships with auditors, lenders, funders and advisors and ensuring ethical financial stewardship and timely risk escalation.
  • Finance team systems and operating partnership: Build a high-performing, financially accountable organization by leading the finance team, partnering across HR, Payroll, IT and operations to strengthen controls, systems and reporting, and empowering leaders to effectively manage budgets and financial performance.
