AutoCAD Draftsman

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and technically proficient AutoCAD Draftsman to support the preparation, revision, and maintenance of accurate 2D technical drawings. The successful candidate will work independently to convert engineering sketches, survey measurements, markups, redlines, PDFs, and legacy documents into precise, organized, and standardized AutoCAD drawings. The role requires strong experience in 2D CAD drafting, particularly in residential, architectural, structural, and utility-related drawings. Candidates should be comfortable working with imperial measurements and U.S. residential construction standards, interpreting incomplete or marked-up source materials, identifying missing or inconsistent information, and producing clean, properly structured DWG files ready for internal or client use.

• Independently convert engineering sketches, hand markups, redlines, survey measurements, PDFs, scanned documents, and other source materials into accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings.
• Prepare and revise floor plans, architectural elevations, structural framing layouts, utility plans, and other technical drawings as required.
• Create and revise residential house plans, including drawings commonly used for U.S.-based residential construction projects.
• Execute redline revisions accurately while maintaining drawing consistency, document integrity, and proper revision control.
• Convert legacy paper drawings, scanned documents, and PDF plans into workable and properly structured DWG files.
• Modify and update existing CAD drawings based on client feedback, markups, revised measurements, and project requirements.
• Accurately interpret and apply imperial measurements, dimensions, scales, and units commonly used in U.S. residential projects.
• Ensure all revisions are properly incorporated and reflected in the latest version of each drawing.

• Apply established CAD standards, including layering conventions, line types, dimensioning rules, annotation standards, blocks, dynamic blocks, layouts, viewports, and title block formats.
• Utilize dynamic blocks and other AutoCAD tools where appropriate to improve drafting efficiency and consistency.
• Maintain accurate dimensions, scales, layouts, references, and drawing relationships.
• Review drawings for errors, inconsistencies, missing information, and discrepancies before submission.
• Verify that measurements and dimensions are consistent with the applicable source documents and project requirements.
• Maintain consistency across drawing sets and ensure revisions do not unintentionally affect unrelated elements.
• Organize and maintain CAD files, reference documents, and project folders according to established naming and filing conventions.

• Review project instructions, sketches, markups, survey information, and supporting documentation to understand drafting requirements.
• Interpret technical information and translate it into clear, accurate, and properly formatted CAD drawings.
• Communicate clearly with architects, engineers, designers, project managers, and other stakeholders when clarification is required.
• Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information and raise appropriate technical questions before making assumptions that may affect drawing accuracy.
• Maintain clear documentation of revisions, outstanding questions, and completed work.
• Track assigned tasks and manage priorities to meet project deadlines.
• Provide regular updates regarding project progress, potential issues, and items requiring clarification.
• Work effectively with international and U.S.-based clients, taking into consideration differences in drafting conventions, measurements, terminology, and project requirements.

• Proven experience as an AutoCAD Draftsman, CAD Technician, CAD Operator, or similar technical drafting role.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, with a primary focus on 2D drafting.
• Demonstrated experience creating and revising technical drawings based on sketches, redlines, markups, measurements, PDFs, and legacy documents.
• Strong understanding of imperial measurements and U.S. customary units, including the ability to accurately interpret and apply dimensions in feet and inches.
• Experience with residential house plans, architectural floor plans, elevations, structural layouts, framing plans, utility layouts, or similar technical drawings.
• Experience working with international clients, preferably U.S.-based clients, or demonstrated experience working on residential projects in the United States.
• Strong understanding of CAD layers, blocks, dynamic blocks, dimensioning, annotations, layouts, viewports, and title blocks.
• Ability to accurately convert PDF, scanned, or paper drawings into editable and properly structured DWG files.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across multiple revisions.
• Ability to work independently and manage drafting assignments with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and file-management skills.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to identify unclear or conflicting information and ask appropriate technical questions.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
• Experience interpreting engineering sketches, survey measurements, and technical markups.
• Familiarity with structural framing and utility layouts.
• Experience using Bluebeam Revu for reviewing and executing markups or redlines.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp.
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, drafting, design technology, or a related field.
