RESTORATION TECHNICIAN - WATER, FIRE & MOLD
Quick Summary
cookouts, team breakfasts, and the occasional team outing. Nobody here has ever described a week as boring. THE SCHEDULE, HONESTLY Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to around 4 p.m.
No restoration experience required - we train you and we pay for your certifications.
WHEN A PIPE BURSTS AT TWO IN THE MORNING, SOMEBODY HAS TO SHOW UP!
That's us. A burst pipe, a water heater that let go, a kitchen fire, mold behind a wall - when it happens, people call Clean Rite, and one of our technicians walks through the door on what is very often the worst day of somebody's year. You clean it up, you dry it out, you put it back. People are genuinely relieved to see you.
That's the job, and it's why we care who we hire. You don't need to have done restoration work before. You do need to show up, work hard, and be the kind of person a homeowner trusts inside their house. Our core values are a positive attitude, integrity, and caring - bring those and we'll teach you the rest.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING
- Responding to water, fire, smoke, and mold emergencies in homes and businesses
- Extracting water, setting drying equipment, and monitoring jobs until they're dry
- Removing damaged materials - drywall, flooring, insulation - and hauling debris
- Mold remediation and fire, soot, and smoke cleanup
- Cleaning carpets, rugs, hardwood, tile and stone, upholstery, draperies, and contents
- Driving company vehicles and box trucks to and from job sites
- Working off ladders, in attics and crawlspaces, in Tyvek and a respirator when the job calls for it
- Talking with customers and keeping the office in the loop
PAY
The hourly rate is where it starts, not where it ends.
- $19-$22 per hour to start with no prior experience or certifications
- $22-$25 per hour if you bring experience or certifications, and there's room to talk if you hold the right ones
- Overtime after 40 hours
- Premium rates for evening, overnight, and weekend hours, paid on top of your base rate
- On-call stipend paid whether or not the phone rings, plus premium pay for every call-out
- Team bonus tied to how the company performs each month, shared across the whole team
- Monthly phone stipend
BENEFITS
- Health insurance with no waiting period - available the first of the month after you start, and Clean Rite covers the majority of the premium on the base plan
- Dental available
- 401(k) with a company match, eligible after six months
- Paid time off that grows the longer you're here
- Six paid holidays
- Certification is employer-sponsored through our education assistance program. We'll walk you through how it works before you start.
- Full uniform provided - shirts, quarter-zip pullover, raincoat, Carhartt winter coat, ball cap, winter beanie, work pants
- Every tool and piece of equipment provided (and please leave your own at home - that's company policy)
- And the stuff that isn't technically a benefit: cookouts, team breakfasts, and the occasional team outing. Nobody here has ever described a week as boring.
THE SCHEDULE, HONESTLY
- Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to around 4 p.m.
- Emergencies don't keep business hours, so we run an on-call rotation
- On-call weeks carry additional pay, and we'll explain exactly how that works when we talk.
WHAT YOU NEED
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- To be at least 21 - that's a DOT and insurance requirement, not ours
- To pass a DOT box truck medical clearance before you start
- To pass a background check and drug screening
- To pass a lung evaluation and be able to wear a respirator for long stretches
- Clean shaven every day you're working - no beard will seal a respirator, and that's an OSHA thing, not a Clean Rite thing
- To lift 50 pounds and be on your feet all day
- A positive attitude. Genuinely the most important thing on this list
WHAT WE'LL TEACH YOU
Everything else. Water damage, structural drying, mold, fire and smoke, contents, and the certifications that go with them, on our dime.
WHERE IT GOES
You'd start as an Apprentice and move to Technician, then Lead Technician, and further. Promotions and raises here are based on performance, not on how long you've been around. The people who learn fast and take care of customers move quickly.
ABOUT US
We're a Rhode Island company serving RI, southeastern Connecticut, and Massachusetts around the clock. The team works well together and we like each other. Small enough that you're a person here, busy enough that you'll never be bored.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through this posting. If you've done restoration or cleaning work before, tell us where and what kind - and if you hold any IICRC certifications, say which ones, because it affects where you start. If you haven't, tell us what you have done and why this interests you. We read them.
Clean Rite Cleaning and Restoration is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal or Rhode Island law.
