About the Role

The Financial Control  & Budget Analyst is responsible for providing financial oversight and analytical support across the lifecycle of utility-scale solar, storage, and renewable energy projects. This role serves as a key business partner to Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Development, and Finance teams by ensuring project costs are accurately tracked, forecasted, and managed against approved budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project expenditures, commitments, accruals, and forecasts against approved project budgets.
  • Maintain project cost reports and provide regular visibility into budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with Project Managers and functional leaders to identify, analyze, and explain budget variances.
  • Administer the project change order process from initiation through approval and implementation.
  • Ensure project costs are accurately categorized and aligned with approved cost structures.
  • Develop, maintain, and reconcile Budget at Completion (BAC), Estimate to Complete (ETC), and Estimate at Completion (EAC), documenting assumptions and explaining changes from prior forecasts.
  • Calculate, monitor and maintain a project dashboard for all KPIs associated with the construction phase of a project.
  • Maintain financial reporting by Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), ensuring budgets, actual costs, commitments, accruals, forecasts, and approved changes are consistently mapped to the appropriate work packages.
  • Collaborate with individual department, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization to develop and maintain project construction forecast.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, solve problems, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms is a plus.
    • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms is a plus.
    • Experience with project management and construction systems such as Procore, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project is a plus.
