Job Summary

The Medical Writer is your in-house science storyteller—turning dense research into crystal-clear, captivating learning adventures that fuel top-tier training programs for life-science and healthcare audiences.
You’ll team up with Medical Strategists, Instructional Designers, and Creative wizards to dive deep into the data, craft rock-solid yet relatable content, and layer in just-right references—whether it shows up as a slick eLearning module, an interactive video journey, a snackable micro-learning nugget, or a dynamic live-workshop deck. You’ll spin narratives that spark brand passion, supercharge clinical credibility, and leave learners (and clients!) hungry for more.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

  • Content Development & Storytelling
    • Draft and refine training scripts, storyboards, job aids, and live-learning decks that translate data into compelling clinical stories.
    • Adapt tone, format, and complexity to fit diverse audiences, such as commercial sales, MSLs, HCPs, or payers, while adhering to adult-learning best practices.
    • Partner with designers and developers to visualize scientific concepts through infographics, animations, and interactive elements.
  • Scientific Rigor & Referencing
    • Conduct literature searches and critically appraise primary sources, guidelines, and competitive data.
    • Reference all content to internal SOPs, client style guides, and AMA standards, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • Compliance & QC
    • Align copy with Medical-Legal-Regulatory (MLR) requirements and proactively flag risk areas.
    • Perform self-QC and peer reviews to uphold consistency, grammar, and brand voice.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Contribute to agile “content sprints” with Strategists, Designers, and Project Managers, delivering on time and on budget.
    • Participate in client calls as needed to clarify scientific nuances and iterate on feedback.
  • Continuous Learning & Innovation
    • Stay current on therapeutic-area trends, new clinical data, and emerging learning technologies.
    • Share insights and best practices with the wider content team to raise the collective bar.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate degree (MS, PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a biomedical or life-science discipline.
  • Experience: 1–3 years in medical, scientific, or health-communications writing, preferably for training or HCP-education audiences.
  • Writing Mastery: Superior command of English; able to simplify complex science without sacrificing nuance.
  • Regulatory Savvy: Working knowledge of AMA style, ICH/Good-Publication-Practice, MLR expectations, and US drug development landscape.
  • Digital Fluency: Proficient in Microsoft 365; familiarity with one or more of the following is a plus such as Articulate Rise/Storyline, Veeva, XML/HTML, Figma/Miro, Gen-AI writing tools.
  • Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, receptive to feedback, and comfortable in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
  • Travel: Occasional (= 10%) for workshops or client meetings.
