Job Responsibilities and Skills

Client and Account Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of account managers and account directors including workload allocation, account assignments, performance management, and career development.
  • Simultaneously manage a large client, driving organic growth by identifying strategic opportunities
  • Provide oversight to team ensuring exceptional service, on-time delivery, and scope management
  • Lead and manage annual brand planning processes for assigned client, collaborating with internal teams to develop strategic imperatives and tactical plans.

Financial and Business Management

  • Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasts on a regular basis for assigned account and the broader portfolio.
  • Oversee monthly accruals and financial performance in partnership with business unit leadership, operations, and finance teams.
  • Develop and review Statements of Work (SOWs), budgets, and change orders, supporting the team to communicate risks and overages with client proactively
  • Analyze account performance and communicate forecasts and critical business issues to senior leadership.

Project, Operations, and Team Management

  • Foster a strong, collaborative team culture that promotes unity, morale, innovation, and best practices across the organization.
  • Provide oversight and input on tactical deliverables to ensure quality, timeliness, and alignment with client objectives and regulatory standards
  • Participate in and lead internal meetings, providing clear direction, feedback, and alignment across cross-functional teams (strategy, creative, scientific, operations, finance).
  • Mentor, coach, and manage direct reports, focusing on skills development, goal setting, performance reviews, and retention.

Strategic Growth and Business Development

  • Champion new business development by leading or contributing to pitches, proposals, and presentations for prospective and existing client(s)
  • Evaluate market trends, client feedback, competitive landscape, and therapeutic area dynamics to refine account strategies and identify new opportunities.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced leadership and management skills, with proven ability to lead one or more clients and teams simultaneously in a decentralized or matrixed environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, including experience in brand planning, product launches, and integrated healthcare solutions.
  • Exceptional client relationship-building skills with the ability to act as a trusted strategic partner
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, including prioritization, organization, and the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Veeva Vault and comfort working with financial reports and operational metrics

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, life sciences, or a related field required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8–9 years of progressive experience in medical communications and/or healthcare account management, including substantial prior leadership and personnel responsibility and experience with Commercial clients across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Proven experience leading brand planning processes and contributing to product launches
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp scientific and technical concepts and apply them to strategic planning.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 10% for client meetings and projects; role may require occasional evening and weekend work.
