Citizens Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist Assistant to work full-time in our Rehab department.

Position Information:

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, treats patients, in accordance with the orders of the referring physician, through the use of the therapeutic procedures and supportive devices intended to maximize functional potentials in all areas of a patient’s life.  The therapist is responsible for the implementation of the Standards of Practice for Occupational Therapy written by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

    Occupational Therapist Assistant will report to the Rehabilitation Department Manager.


    Days/Hours: Outpatient Clinic hours 7AM to 6PM


    Pay Range: Dependent upon experience


    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


    Education:  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant and eligible for licensure with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.


    Required Certification/Registration:  Must have current license, certification or registration with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.


    What you’ll do:

    • Provide patient care by performing the duties of a staff Occupational Therapist Assistant as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist, including completing necessary documentation of patient conditions, reactions, and responses to treatment in accordance with standards of practice.
    • Assist the Occupational Therapist in communicating with physicians, departmental/hospital personnel and family members, as needed, regarding patient progress, problems and plans. 
    • Assure the continued growth and improvement of the rehabilitation Services Department.
    • Attend and participate in required departmental meetings, and other meetings as instructed by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
    • Attend continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
    • Complete all mandatory training/in-services and certification requirements.
    • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement process, as instructed by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
    • Maintain equipment in proper working order and adapts equipment to meet the needs of the patient.
    • Act in compliance with regulatory, corporate and professional standards and guidelines.
    • Observe, record and report to the Occupational Therapist the conditions, patient reactions and responses related to treatment.
    • Instruct patients and their families/caregivers in exercise programs and therapeutic procedures to be continued following the patient’s discharge as directed by the Occupational Therapist. 
    • Perform treatments as ordered in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with established practice guidelines.


     What you bring to the table:

    • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure with the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. 
    • Current C.P.R. certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
    • Thorough knowledge of principles, methods and techniques involved in performing occupational therapy services. 
    • Ability to deal understandingly and tactfully in a professional manner with patients and their families. 
    • Ability to maintain good working relationship with personnel in other departments.
    • Ability to provide direction in application of occupational therapy process, quality improvement standard, organization and departmental goals and objectives.
