CNS Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Housekeeping Manager for a luxury hotel in Zanzibar. The role is responsible for supporting the management of housekeeping operations, maintaining high cleanliness standards, supervising housekeeping teams, and ensuring exceptional guest room and public area presentation within a professional hospitality environment. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership skills, operational knowledge, and experience in hotel housekeeping management.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Support the management and coordination of daily housekeeping operations across guest rooms, villas, corridors, and public areas to ensure exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards.
- →Prepare and supervise daily work schedules for Housekeeping Supervisors and Attendants, ensuring all team members are equipped with required linen, keys, cleaning supplies, and operational tools.
- →Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house sections to ensure compliance with hotel quality assurance and luxury hospitality standards.
- →Monitor room status updates including Vacant Clean (VC), Occupied, DND, VIP, and Out of Order rooms, while coordinating closely with Front Office for smooth room release and guest arrivals.
- →Handle guest requests, complaints, and special housekeeping arrangements professionally and ensure prompt follow-up to maintain high guest satisfaction.
- →Supervise housekeeping inventory management, including linen, guest amenities, uniforms, chemicals, and cleaning equipment to support uninterrupted operations.
- →Ensure maintenance issues, damages, and technical faults are reported promptly to the Engineering Department and followed up until resolution.
- →Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and continuous development of housekeeping staff on SOPs, hygiene standards, and service excellence procedures.
- →Monitor staff productivity, grooming standards, attendance, and overall performance while providing coaching and operational guidance when necessary.
- →Ensure proper handling of lost and found items in accordance with hotel policies and operational procedures.
- →Prepare housekeeping operational reports, occupancy updates, inspection reports, and inventory records for management review.
- →Ensure compliance with hotel hygiene, health, safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
Requirements
~1 min read- Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in housekeeping operations within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Previous supervisory or assistant housekeeping management experience is preferred.
- Experience in luxury hotel operations is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of housekeeping standards, hygiene, and hotel operations.
- Good leadership, organizational, and team coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional communication and guest service skills.
- Proficiency in English communication is required.
- Candidates from the National College of Tourism (NCT) and other hospitality colleges or institutes are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates who are proficient in more than one language (multilingual) will have an added advantage.
