CodeMettle provides a flexible data management software platform that solves complex, mission critical network, communications, and process management challenges. CodeMettle serves defense, government, and communications providers and offers innovative and scalable management of networks. The company is based in Atlanta, GA and is growing a team of talented and dedicated professionals committed to delivering superior software and services to customers worldwide.
CodeMettle is a growing company passionately focused on solving the toughest problems for the most discerning customers. We provide custom software development and integration services for companies in the broadcast, telecommunications and government defense markets. CodeMettle engineers customize, integrate and deploy new installations of CodeMettle software to customers around the world.
Our company builds software that untrained users and field-service reps can use to rapidly enhance a unit’s ability to manage the lifecycle of their communications infrastructure without requiring customizations. This software is stable, performant, secure and reusable as befits the needs of our customers and the domains in which they operate.
The Infrastructure Support Engineers help build, operate, and support the systems that enable all teams to accelerate the flow of value to our customers. As the first line of support for our internal engineering platforms, they keep developers productive by responding to requests, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining the tools our teams rely on every day. Working alongside and learning from DevOps engineers, they will grow their skills in automation, containerized deployments, networking, and enterprise infrastructure software.
They do this in a number of ways:
- They provide first-line technical support to our engineers.
- eg) Respond to support tickets and Slack messages about org-support services such as GitLab, Nexus, and build environments. Triage issues, resolve what they can, and escalate the rest with clear notes.
- They create and maintain documentation that helps engineers be faster and more independent.
- eg) Write how-to guides, runbooks, and FAQs for common requests and recurring issues to improve engineer self-service.
- They help operate and maintain infrastructure, applications, and tooling “as code” wherever possible.
- eg) Assist with installing, upgrading, patching, and monitoring Kubernetes, git servers, artifact repositories, hypervisors, etc.
- They support and help improve our software development pipelines.
- eg) Troubleshoot failed builds and deployments, manage user access and permissions, and make incremental improvements to CI/CD pipelines under the guidance of senior engineers.
- They look for repetitive tasks and find ways to automate them.
- eg) Script common support tasks such as account provisioning, environment resets, or host configuration to reduce manual effort.
- They make sure the hardware and lab equipment that our teams depend on is accounted for, working, and ready when needed.
- eg) Set up, image, and maintain workstations, servers, and network equipment in the CodeMettle office and lab.
The role:
- Serve as the first point of contact for internal support requests related to DevOps infrastructure, tools, and services; triage, troubleshoot, and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Help operate and maintain infrastructure, applications, and services supporting software development Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), testing, security, artifact management, and network/device simulation.
- Manage user accounts, access, and permissions across development tools and platforms.
- Monitor system health, respond to alerts, and assist with routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and backups.
- Help to create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles that improve engineer self-service.
- Help product and engineering teams get the most out of the self-service capabilities of our DevOps infrastructure.
- Work alongside security, engineering, and operations teams to maintain shared systems with multiple stakeholders.
- Contribute to automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) efforts that replace manual touch labor.
- Set up and maintain office hardware, lab equipment, servers, and workstations as needed.
- Learn from senior engineers and stay current on DevOps tools, trends, and best practices.

- You like helping people solve technical problems and take ownership of seeing an issue through to resolution.
- You can explain technical issues clearly, in writing and in conversation, to people with different levels of expertise.
