As a Staff Data Scientist at Cohere Health, you will serve as a technical leader across high-priority initiatives, shaping how data science is applied to some of the most complex challenges in healthcare. You’ll drive the design of advanced analytical and modeling solutions, influence strategic direction, and partner deeply across Product, Clinical, and Engineering to deliver scalable, high-impact outcomes.
This role goes beyond execution. You’ll define approaches, set standards, and guide others in solving ambiguous, high-leverage problems. You’ll play a critical role in advancing the maturity of data science at Cohere while contributing directly to improving clinical and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead the design and execution of complex, high-impact data science initiatives across multiple domains
- →Define analytical frameworks and modeling approaches for ambiguous, strategic problem spaces
- →Partner with senior stakeholders to shape problem definition, prioritize opportunities, and influence decision-making
- →Develop and deploy advanced models and scalable analytical solutions that drive measurable outcomes
- →Establish best practices for experimentation, model development, and analytical rigor across the team
- →Mentor and guide other data scientists, providing technical leadership and elevating team capabilities
- →Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and integrated into workflows
- →Good knowledge of Information security
- →Oversee specific business processes within the ISMS.
- →Responsible to manage the ISMS documentation, conduct risk assessments, and implement risk treatment plans.
- →Risk Owners are responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks within their areas of responsibility.
- →They are also responsible for implementing risk treatment plans.
- →Conduct the BCP and other test related to information security continuity along with CISO
- →Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of the ISMS.
- →Responsible for implementation of security policies and procedures and report any issues to the CISO.
Requirements
~1 min read- 8+ years of experience in data science, with demonstrated impact on business or clinical outcomes
- Deep expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimental design
- Hands-on experience tuning and evaluating ML models for NLP tasks (e.g., transformers, large language models)
- Experience building and scaling data science solutions in cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and influence technical direction without direct authority
- Strong experience working with large-scale, complex datasets
- Expertise in Python programming language
- Ability to communicate and influence at senior stakeholder levels
- Experience applying data science solutions on healthcare data (EMR, claims, SDOH data)
- Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., PySpark, Spark)
- Familiarity with advanced data systems (e.g., graph databases, Elasticsearch)
