QAP is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Anchorage team. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional looking to build a strong foundation in general accounting while working under the supervision of the Regional Controller.

This position is designed to help build technical expertise in areas such as financial reporting, tax compliance, cash-related accounting activities, account reconciliations, and recurring journal entries. Through exposure to multiple facets of the organization, the staff accountant can develop business partnership skills and establish a strong foundation for long-term career success.

Responsibilities

  • →Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts while accurately documenting business transactions.
  • →Review, investigate, and resolve errors and inconsistencies in accounting records, financial entries, and reconciliations.
  • →Prepare and coordinate reports required by regulatory agencies, including sales and use tax filings and highway use tax reporting.
  • →Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial reports.
  • →Develop business partnership skills through regular interaction with operational and management teams.
  • →Work in an office-based environment that promotes collaboration and strengthens relationships between accounting and business operations through regular face-to-face interaction.

Requirements

  • Recent graduates and candidates with up to three years of accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting organizational goals and delivering high-quality work.
  • Reliable in-office attendance and dependability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; candidates currently pursuing their degree may also be considered.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal customers across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
