Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About the Role

Launched in September 2023, our location in Silver Spring, MD, is home to top local talent in behavioral health care. This interdisciplinary team of trailblazers is building our adolescent and adult programs from the ground up alongside the leadership of well-established clinicians and doctors working in PHP/IOP behavioral health care for the past decade.       

The Medical Intake Coordinator is responsible for the medical registration of new patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members to communicate patient health information that requires treatment planning and/or further medical consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the medical registration process of patients entering the healthcare facility
  • Provides administrative support to the Nursing Department and Psychiatry Department
  • Collects and documents intake information such as medication and health history
  • Communicates and collaborates with the nursing team regarding intake information
  • Collects and documents of vital signs, height, weight
  • Drafting medical documentation and lab orders under the direction of the psychiatry provider
  • Transcribing medical information to patient’s charts & communicating pertinent information to the treatment team
  • Maintains confidentiality. patient privacy, and data security
  • Provides supplementary assistance with infection control and prevention measures
  • Medication, medical supply, and equipment inventory
  • Initiating Prior Authorizations for medications and diagnostic tests
  • Participates in professional development activities
  • All other duties within the scope of training as assigned by the Site Leader
  • Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Program Directors, Staff Therapists, Staff Nurses, and Administrative Staff
  • Exceptional interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills
  • Robust organizational and time management skills, with noteworthy attention to detail
  • Team player with adaptiveness and agility
  • Medical Assistant (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy (highly preferred)
  • Current CPR certification (preferred not required)
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceuticals (preferred not required)
  • Experience in mental health care (preferred not required)

Requirements

  • Often required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

This range includes multiple career path levels across the organization; where you fall in the range is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, your years of experience, type of experience, location, and education/certifications. $19$24 USD
