~1 min readThis position leads the Audit Services team responsible for creating and implementing risk-based audit programs. You will provide auditing guidance to leadership and the Audit & Finance Committee (AFC) of the Board of Directors in evaluating the effectiveness of organizational control systems that have been established. Through on-going review of practices and operating procedures, oversees the identification of internal control gaps in business procedures, processes or systems and provides recommendations on appropriate remedial action to protect and shield the organization from creating or perpetuating methods or activities which put the organization at risk. Reporting to the AFC directly and the Chief Financial Officer administratively, you will provide vital information to the AFC of the Board of Directors regarding the effectiveness of the organization’s third line of defense and internal control systems. Also serves as the primary Compeer audit contact for the Farm Credit Administration (FCA), AgriBank and other regulatory bodies.
- Directs and oversees execution of the vision for Audit Services including annual planning and risk assessment, scoping and management action plans and validation of issue closure.
- Establishes, oversees implementation and monitors an internal review and audit program to ensure a satisfactory internal control system for administration including but not limited to credit, financial services, financial operations and administrative functions in the organization.
- Oversees and evaluates the organization’s system of internal controls and determines compliance with policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Acts as the main contact and relationship manager for outside regulators/auditors to facilitate and expedite external audits (financial statement audit not included).
- Works proactively and collaboratively with other leaders across the organization, especially within the Credit and Risk Management and Enterprise Financial Management teams while maintaining audit independence and objectivity. Includes activities such as actively participating in Management Committees.
- Selects, motivates, develops, evaluates and rewards team members, with a keen focus on maintaining a positive work environment, high performing team and developing leaders to achieve organizational and team goals.
- Meets regularly with the AFC to report the status of Audit Service’s ongoing monitoring activities, educates and informs the committee of emerging risks and/or exposures (whether internal or external to the company) that should be considered, and serves as a “thought leader” with respect to risk management and internal control best practices.
- Provides the AFC and the Board with written and verbal reports on performance to standards and compliance with FCA, Agribank and Compeer policies, procedures and regulations, proposing recommendations on appropriate remedial actions if needed to mitigate risk.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Minimum of 12 years of internal audit required with experience auditing financial institutions. Credit review experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience, with recent experience in supervising the audit function.
- Audit designations (e.g. CPA, CIA), preferred.
- Expert knowledge of internal auditing standards, processes, controls and audit techniques.
- Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) for financial reporting and advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of lending and credit management.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations regarding credit extension.
- Expert knowledge of auditing techniques that leverage data analytics.
- Experience in the agriculture industry preferred.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
