  • Building tailor-made optical setups and developing sample-preparation protocols for specific experiments.

A plus would be if the candidate:

  • Has experience with C++ programming.

  • Knows how to operate a microscope and is familiar with image acquisition software.

  • Has experience with imaging systems from different manufacturers (e.g. Leica, Nikon, Olympus, and Zeiss).

The ideal Service Engineer is a good listener, rational thinker, and hands-on worker. They can interpret issues well and translate them into technical terms to obtain development support from Confocal NL or its partners. They show an interest in understanding the products in Confocal NL’s portfolio inside out.

A down-to-earth attitude, a clear mind, and good planning and organizational skills are important for success. This position requires someone who can work independently and as part of a team. A good understanding of their own skills and the ability to seek additional help from colleagues are important for success. They work toward customer satisfaction within the framework agreed by the customer and the Sales team, with technical support from the entire Confocal NL team.

At Confocal NL we aim to make better microscopes for live cell imaging to further progress and accelerate e.g. drug discovery and crop improvement. We are continuously working on technology improvement to enrich the microscopy market with more innovative breakthrough solutions.

Confocal NL was founded in 2016 as a spin-off company from the University of Amsterdam, where the REscan technology was invented. Since then, we have successfully developed several REscan microscopes used by researchers worldwide. We are a growing team of 20 people (ao. engineers, biologists, sales engineers) located at the Science Park Amsterdam where Science meets Business in a vibrant atmosphere. Since 2018, the company has been supported by investments from several venture capital companies and governmental subsidies.
