Duties: Performs customer service duties in the field as necessary including new water service connects and to close out accounts. Deliver delinquency notices. Turn off services for delinquent accounts. Place locks on services and/or remove meter. Restores services to delinquent accounts after payment is made by removing locks or reinstalling meters. Complete service order requests and submit to ensure accurate billing; respond and repair, if needed, leaks at the meter. Examines meters for signs of tampering and reports inoperative, leaking, malfunctioning, or damaged meters and registers. Reports any water theft as discovered to supervisors. Locate service addresses and checks meters of various sizes for stuck dials and inoperable parts, and verifies meter information. Answer customers' questions of a general nature on meter readings or direct them to the Water Billing Office. Performs water meter exchanges, installations and repairs for water meters (5/8" to 2"). Cleans out, raises or lowers and replace meter boxes and/or lids. Installs, repairs and replaces meter reading components of water meters used in the automatic meter reading system (meter interface unit (MIU) or register). Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operations. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy.
Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require working in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain, etc.)

- From 21 to less than 26 years of service – five weeks of vacation per year.
- From 26 years of service and up – six weeks of vacation per year.
