PT Recreation Attendant - Verne Cox Multi-Purpose Center (2 positions)

Duties: The Part-Time Recreation Attendant assists with the planning, implementation, and supervision of recreational programs, classes, and special events designed for children and adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. This position provides direct participant support to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging recreational experience. The position does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires a high level of interaction with participants, families, staff, and the public. Greets participants, families, and visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Provides general hospitality, staff support, and clear communication to participants, families, and coworkers. Assists in the implementation and facilitation of recreational activities and programs for children and adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Activities may include, but are not limited to, field trips, dances, adaptive sports, walking programs, swimming, track, arts and crafts, fishing, bowling, tennis, volleyball, basketball, and other leisure activities. Provides direct personal assistance to participants as needed, including dressing, restroom reminders, eating, transfers to and from wheelchairs, entering and exiting vehicles, and active participation in recreational activities while maintaining participant dignity and safety. Monitors program participants and spectators to ensure a safe, orderly, and positive environment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Assists with the maintenance, cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of facilities, supplies, and recreational equipment. Enforces center rules, regulations, and safety guidelines consistently and professionally. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports the mission, goals, and purpose of the Parks and Recreation Department. Must have and maintain without interruption, all required licenses, certifications, clearances, and job-related requirements without interruption. Works assigned schedule and complies with City timekeeping and attendance policies.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Driver's License held for at least one (1) year with a good driving record. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.). ServSafe Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire. PREFERRED: Bilingual (English/Spanish).
