Position Summary

The Planner/Buyer for 3rd Party Operations will lead planning and purchasing activities for externally manufactured and packaged finished goods. The position will also be responsible for inventory management for all 3rd Party product families, as well as minimizing obsolescence through effective planning in accordance with established stocking level guidelines. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams, including but not limited to, Commercial Operations and Quality Assurance to ensure optimal inventory levels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


1.    Provide updated forecasts at the beginning of each month to all external manufacturing and packaging partners.
2.    Create and submit Purchase Orders for API’s, finished goods, associated raw materials and packaging componentry.
3.    Lead Supply Chain meetings with external partners on a fixed and continuous basis.
4.    Ensure alignment with external partners on production schedules to meet order timelines.
5.    Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate Supply Chain takeover of external manufacturing product launches and external product technical transfers from Project Management.
6.    Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
7.    Coordinate shipments with the logistics team. Expedite late orders and resolve shipping discrepancies.
8.    Work with Commercial Operations to review bids and demand forecasts.
9.    Manage inventory receipts, including coordinating with Quality Assurance to ensure timely release to market.
10.  Update SOPs, initiate change controls and write investigations, as needed.
11.   Participate in the S&OP meetings while leading the review of the 3rd Party Operations products.  Develop the 3rd Party products slides for the S&OP presentation.

Position Requirements

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in information science, data management, computer science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field. 

Experience Required:

Knowledge of production planning in a pharmaceutical environment.

Experience using SAP or similar ERP system.

Experience Preferred:

3+ years of related planning experience.

3+ years of working in an ERP system, preferably SAP.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications needed:

Proficient in spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and word processing (Microsoft Word) and PowerPoint.

Certifications, such as APICS CPIM, CSCP are preferred.

Company/Industry Related Knowledge:

Pharmaceutical industry knowledge is preferred.
