The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Conference Concierge to join our hospitality team. The Conference Concierge serves as the primary on-floor representative for conference, meeting, and event clients, ensuring meeting spaces are fully prepared and operating seamlessly throughout the day. This highly visible, client-facing position provides exceptional service by anticipating client needs, managing meeting room readiness, coordinating signage, and responding promptly to requests. The Conference Concierge acts as the main point of contact for conference planners and maintains a flawless guest experience.
Duties
- Complete daily opening rounds to ensure all conference and meeting rooms are unlocked, clean, properly set, and ready prior to scheduled events.
- Verify room setups match banquet event orders (BEOs) and client specifications.
- Ensure all audiovisual, furniture, supplies, and meeting materials are in place or communicate needs to the appropriate departments.
- Install, update, and remove all conference and event signage throughout the property.
- Serve as the primary on-floor contact for conference planners, meeting organizers, and attendees during events.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively resolve issues before they impact the guest experience.
- Respond quickly and professionally to client requests, including room adjustments, supplies, temperature concerns, seating changes, and other meeting-related needs.
- Coordinate with Banquets, Housekeeping, Engineering, Audio Visual, and Front Office teams to ensure seamless meeting operations.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of conference areas to maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.
- Maintain a professional presence on the conference floor throughout the shift, providing exceptional hospitality and personalized service.
- Communicate event updates, changes, and operational concerns to planners, management, and/or appropriate departments.
- Assist with special projects and additional conference service responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous hospitality, conference services, hotel operations, or customer service experience preferred.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple hotel departments.
- Professional appearance and positive, service-oriented attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

The Concierge provides information to guest/visitor inquiries and coordinates all guest requests for special arrangements for services, courteously and efficiently. Escorts VIPs to assigned guest rooms, informing guests of hotel services, features and room amenities. Attends to immediate needs of VIPS upon arrival and provides follow through attention throughout stay.
Responsibilities

- →Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems.
- →Issue room keys and escort instructions to bellhops.
- →Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary.
- →Transmit and receive messages, using telephones or telephone switchboards.
- →Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning.
- →Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions, or make recommendations regarding shopping, dining, or entertainment.
- →Arrange tours, taxis, or restaurant reservations for customers.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
- Formal training in the Hospitality Industry preferred.
- Previous training in guest relations.
- Good understanding of the English language with the ability to articulate effectively and possess strong written skill sets.
- Ability to sell hotel outlets suggestively up.
- Certification in CPR preferred.
- Must be TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certified, or become certified by first day on the job.
- Knowledgeable of surrounding area.
