DR Design & Remodel, the Sacramento region's kitchen and bath remodeling expert for over 20 years, is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to oversee our remodeling jobs from signed design through final walkthrough. Working from our Elk Grove showroom, you will manage our licensed general contractor partners and trades on active projects, serve as the homeowner's main point of contact, and protect the margin on every job.
Design-to-Execution Handoff: Review every customer proposal for scope and cost before it becomes a signed contract. Occasionally provide input to the Designer in their interactions with homeowners and builders. Convert approved scope into clear work orders.
GC & Trade Management: Manage our licensed general contractors and specialty trades across multiple active jobs. Build and maintain schedules, coordinate suppliers, deliveries, and inspections, and ensure permits are obtained in coordination with the general contractor.
Budget & Margin Control: Own the budget on every job and keep actual costs close to it. Track margin throughout construction, approve general contractor and subcontractor invoices against work orders, coordinate pricing and management of change orders, and close each job with a cost-vs-budget review with accounting.
Quality & Site Presence: Visit active job sites to check progress, quality, safety, and adherence to scope, and hold general contractors and trades accountable to our standards. Drive punch lists through to a clean final walkthrough.
Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners, providing clear, proactive updates on progress, changes, and costs. Resolve concerns promptly, assist with collections when needed.
Licensing: Active or an expired CSLB Class B (General Building) license that can readily be reactivated is required.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of residential construction project management, including kitchen and bath remodeling.
Field Credibility: Real hands-on experience in the trades (cabinetry, flooring, drywall, tile, plumbing, electrical) and the presence to direct general contractors and trades with confidence.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in reading plans, construction drawings, and cabinet layouts, as well as estimating, job costing, and BuilderTrend or similar software.
Multi-Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple active jobs at once with close attention to detail.
Client & Team Leadership: Strong communication and customer management skills, with a visible, positive presence in dealing with external parties. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Ownership Mindset: A growth mindset and a whole project view. You’re comfortable stepping outside your role's boundaries to solve problems, support design, sales, and the showroom team when needed, and look for ways to improve how we work.
Transportation: Valid driver's license. Preference for a candidate with a truck to visit job sites
