We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented MEP Procurement Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the sourcing, evaluation, and purchasing of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) materials and equipment for our construction projects. You will act as the vital link between our engineering, estimation, and site management teams, ensuring that all procured materials meet strict technical standards, fit within budget constraints, and are delivered on time to keep our projects moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and pre-qualify local and international vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors for MEP materials.
  • Maintain and update an active database of reliable suppliers and specialized contractors.
  • Review project drawings, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, and scope of work to understand material requirements.
  • Prepare and compile detailed Material Submittal packages for consultant and client approval prior to procurement.
  • Coordinate with site engineers and design teams to clarify technical discrepancies or suggest alternative materials.
  • Prepare and issue comprehensive Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to shortlisted suppliers.
  • Analyze commercial and technical offers, preparing clear cost-comparison sheets.
  • Negotiate optimal prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranties with vendors to maximize project profitability.
  • Draft, review, and issue Purchase Orders (POs) and material supply contracts in alignment with company policies.
  • Monitor and track manufacturing and shipping timelines, proactively resolving supply chain bottlenecks to prevent site delays.
  • Oversee material delivery to the site, ensuring proper documentation (delivery notes, inspection certificates) is received and processed.
  • Monitor actual procurement expenses against project budgets and report variances to management.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering to reduce costs without compromising on quality or safety standards.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain procurement trackers
  • Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project schedules, budgets, specifications, and material requirements.
  • Review BOQs, IFC drawings, specifications, and material take-offs to identify procurement priorities, long-lead items, and potential supply risks.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contract conditions to achieve cost savings and maximize value for the organization.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, Planning, QA/QC, Commercial, and Finance teams to ensure timely approvals, procurement execution, and material availability.
  • Monitor supplier performance, logistics, and project procurement status, proactively mitigating risks, maintaining supplier evaluations, and providing regular procurement reports and dashboards to management.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of [5] years of proven experience in KSA as an MEP Procurement Engineer or a similar procurement role within the construction industry.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of MEP materials and systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting, Electrical, and Low-Voltage systems). Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings and BOQs.

• Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage diverse vendor relationships.

• Software: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or MS Dynamics) and advanced MS Excel skills.

• Certifications: Professional supply chain or procurement certifications (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) are a plus but not mandatory.
