About the Role

This call for applications exists to expand the lecturer pool for the Department of Public and Global Affairs at CSUCI. Successful candidate(s) will provide high-quality part-time instruction in the Public Administration and Political Science programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities include teaching a diverse range of courses that support student learning, professional development, and civic engagement. The position emphasizes delivering rigorous and relevant curriculum that prepares students for careers in government, nonprofit organizations, public service, and related fields while fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and effective leadership. Particular instructional needs include courses in Public Budgeting, Public Human Resources, Administrative Law and Ethics, Careers in Public Service and Law, and Introduction to Public Administration. The instructors will contribute to student success by integrating theory with practical applications, mentoring students in academic and professional development, and supporting graduate students through the thesis process. A commitment to excellence in teaching, student-centered learning, and engagement with contemporary issues in Public Administration and Political Science is essential.

PhD candidate within one year of graduation

  • PhD in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Public Budgeting, Public Human Resources, Administrative Law and Ethics, Careers in Public Service and Law, or related fields.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with a commitment to student success, academic excellence, and inclusive teaching practices. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with a broad student population and provide mentorship that supports student academic success.

  • Experience teaching Public Administration and/or Political Science courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face instructional modalities.
  • Experience teaching courses in Public Budgeting, Public Human Resources, Administrative Law and Ethics, Careers in Public Service and Law, or working with master's thesis/project research and capstone projects
Responsibilities:

Teaching courses as assigned. MPA courses are expected to be delivered in hy-flex format.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
