Research Technician II (TUC – Biology)

• →Training undergraduate and graduate students in the lab and helping them with experiments

• →Performing experiments, data analysis and assisting in preparation of research publications/presentations

• →Laboratory maintenance and safety; ordering and inventoring of research supplies and reagents; construction and/or maintenance of bacterial strains

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field.

The position requires significant labotatory hands on experience working in a molecular microbiology laboratory doing research with Escherichia coli and other bacteria; and a background in studying antibiotic resistance, multidrug efflux pumps and their regulation. Major required skills include aseptic technique, bacterial growth media preparation and autoclaving, and bacterial culturing; cloning and gene deletion in bacteria (e.g. random mutagenesis, Datsenko method gene deletions, Crispr mutagenesis; standard or in-fusion cloning); antibiotic suceptibility testing (disk difussion and broth MIC assays); gene expression assays uzing promoter-lacZ, promoter-gfp, and RT-qPCR assays; growth curve assays; biochemical colorimetric and fluorescence assays; PCR and Sanger sequencing experience; and familiarity with genomics and transcriptomics.

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO PASS A THOROUGH DEPARTMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND LIVE SCAN.
