The Valley Foundation School of Nursing (TVFSON) at San José State University seeks a qualified candidate in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The candidate will be qualified to teach in the variety of programs (BSN, RN-BSN, CEP, MSN, FNP and DNP) offered within the department but primarily focused on the FNP program and must meet the qualifications to serve as an FNP program coordinator. During the application and interview process, candidates are encouraged to highlight their specialties and topics of passion, as TVFSON believes that enthusiasm fuels engagement for both educators and students.

We are very proud of our reputation in the community and the type of new graduates we matriculate in the nursing workforce. We offer eight different programs including a nationally recognized Wound and Ostomy program, and several pathways of entry to our bachelor’s programs. We support our students with significant scholarships from our many donors and are engaged in the community at large.  Our graduate programs include the Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Partitioner.

The Valley Foundation School of Nursing and San José State University value institutional excellence and are committed to advancing equity through research, teaching, and service. SJSU enrolls more than 40,000 students, many of whom are historically underserved; approximately 45% of our undergraduate students are first-generation college students and 38% are Pell Grant recipients. In addition, we are both a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI). SJSU aspires to create holistic learning environments that facilitate both individual and collective transformation. We seek teacher-scholars who cultivate inclusive, empowering spaces for mutual learning, skill-building, and knowledge exchange for all students. Our commitment to lifelong learning supports meaningful connections among faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the broader communities we serve.

We invite all applicants to include a Statement of Institutional Excellence (or incorporate it into your cover letter) to share how your lived and professional experiences will contribute to the SJSU community—particularly in relation to student success. A guide to writing this statement can be found at SJSU Institutional Excellence Statement Guidelines.
